Butterfly Lady

Book and Movie list for 2009

In the comment section, I will comment about the books and movies in the following lists. I will title them in the subject line, so that they will be easy to find and comment on (in their own threads).

Be warned right now, there will most likely be spoilers in the comments for the following books or movies. If you don't want to be spoiled for that particular subject, don't read it.

At the risk of being repetitive, let me tell you know right now that I am neither artsy or analytical in my commentary style. Don't be surprised to read, "I loved it" or "O M G!" Please feel free to comment on any of the titles, whether I have commented or not. If you start a thread on a title please put the title in the subject line, for easy access.

Out with the old, in with the New

Resolutions from www.icanhascheezburger.com:

For New Year's Eve we used to go to my mom's grandmother's house. My brothers and I called her Nene (pronounced knee-knee). There would be way to many Mexicans in one house celebrating, drinking, talking and laughing. Buñuelos and hot chocolate would be handed out for our culinary enjoyment. We would play Mexican Bingo or La Lotería for nickels or quarters. My Nene loved that game. Who am I kidding? She loved winning the jackpots. We would all pay either a nickel or quarter a game and whoever called "Bingo!", won. Sometimes she would have streaks where she couldn't win. The older kids knew to let her win her money back once in a while. *lol* Later on, we would set off fireworks at midnight in the middle of the road and the younger kids would play with sparklers. Fun times. Good times.

Now that she's gone we all do our own thing, but I miss the family thing. This year I had to work the night of the 30th. I was up most of the day on the 31st and couldn't make it to midnight. My mom understood. She had a strawberry daiquiri, I fixed myself a drink, but like always, I didn't finish it. I went to bed early and spent the first day of the year at home. I made some black eyed peas (with ham hocks and onion and garlic) for my mom. They turned out pretty damn yummy so I may have some good luck this year after all.

I know I said in a previous post that I wasn't going to make a resolution this year, but I am going to try to do a couple of things this year. First and foremost, it's been almost two months since my trip to London and I have not posted a thing about my trip or posted any pictures, both of which make me very disappointed in myself. I will post about that damn trip, if it is the last thing I do! Secondly, I am going to keep track of all of the books I read and movies I watch this year. You can visit the post and comment on what I've seen or read any commentary that I leave. Let me let you know right now that I am neither artsy nor analytical in my commentary style. Don't be surprised to read, "I loved it" or "OMG!". (Just FYI I watch a lot of movies). When I was younger I didn't watch anything but sports on TV with my day or old Westerns and soaps with my mom. Now there is at least one TV on in the house at any given time. We have HBO and I take full advantage of that. My brain gets thrown of by my working nights. So on my nights off when I can't sleep I watch movies. To start off, I watched What Dreams May Come.

I'm feeling generous, so I'm also going to tell you what my Theme Song is. You'll love it.
