cat cage fail, originally uploaded by Doc Rogers blog 02.

I started out the month with good intentions to post everyday. I'm disappointed in myself for not having completed my task. For the most part I did pretty well, until I went on vacation. I had a laptop with me, but no charger. My cell phone was supposed to be able to access the internet, but didn't work once I landed in London. There was an internet cafe near the tube station by my hotel, but after walking all over every day, I would go to my hotel and not want to leave again for the night. I did manage a voice post (from Atlanta) and a post from London. I missed about five days of posting. I was going to 'cheat' and post my vacation days as they happened, but I'm not going to. I am going to write about my vacation. I did say in my first post this month that I am a horrible procrastinator. I like to write, but when I feel like I have to, it makes me not want to. I find myself writing my post in my head, but when I sit down to write nothing comes out.

I was going to write today, but I found myself trapped in middle earth all day. TNT had all three Lord of the Rings movies on today. It was nice. I went to the doctor's this past Monday. I have a sprained ankle (I fell on my last day in London.) and have to wear a walking boot for four weeks. I'm supposed to wear it when I don't have my feet up. I've had it off all day and my ankle pops every time I step (I know, kind of gross.) and it's sore. I got a flu shot on Monday. I'm feeling a little sick, sore throat and runny nose, blech. I don't know if it's from the flu shot or being around my niece and nephew this week. They've been sick as well.

I bought some tea at Twinings when I was in London. I should make some, see if it helps.

Edited to add:

This song was on a cassette tape that my mom would play for us around this time of year. Please disregard the video. Just listen to the audio.

"Christmas Is Coming" is a nursery rhyme and Christmas carol (frequently sung as a round) with lyrics as follows:

Christmas is coming, the goose is getting fat
Please put a penny in the old man's hat
If you haven't got a penny, a ha'penny will do
If you haven't got a ha'penny, a farthing will do
If you haven't got a farthing, then God bless you!

This became the basis for Bing Crosby's song "Christmas Is a-Comin'", which contains these lyrics as follows:

When I'm feeling blue, when I'm feeling low,
I start to think about the happiest man I know.
Now he doesn't mind the snow, he doesn't mind the rain,
But all December you will hear him at your window pane,
Singing again and again and again and again and again:

Christmas is a coming and the bells begin to ring,
The holly's in the window and the birds begin to sing.
I don't need to worry, and I don't need to fret,
And the more you give at Christmastime the more you get.

God bless you, gentlemen, God bless you!
The more you give at Christmastime the more you get.

Christmas is a coming, the egg's in the nog.
Please give a friendly man a friendly little dog.
If you haven't got a friendly dog, a friendly cat will do,
If you haven't got a friendly cat may God bless you!

God bless you, gentlemen, God bless you!
If you haven't got a friendly cat may God bless you!

Christmas is a coming, the lights are on the tree.
How about a turkey leg for dear old me?
If you haven't got a turkey leg, a turkey wing will do.
If you haven't got a turkey wing may God bless you!

God bless you, gentlemen, God bless you!
If you haven't got a turkey wing may God bless you!

Christmas is a coming, the cider's in the keg.
If I had a mug of cider I wouldn't have to beg.
If you haven't got a mug of cider, half a mug will do.
If you haven't got half a mug, may God bless you!

God bless you, gentlemen, God bless you!
If you haven't got half a mug, may God bless you!
If you haven't got a thing for me, may God bless you!

Oh, sweetie *hugs* I have sprained my ankle and know how much that hurts. Bummer. Wear the boot!!

'Tis not an epic fail. I am a horrid procrastinator, and understand what you mean about feeling like "you must." Yuck.

I have the three-movie director's cut set of LotR, and am waiting for that perfect day when I have twelve hours to watch them together. Viggo is lovely!

I'll wear the boot from now on.

I want to post about my vacation, but when I feel like I 'must' it takes all of the fun out of it.

Viggo is indeed lovely, but Hugo Weaving rocks my socks. That voice and those eyes, yum! I watch and can't help but feel that Ian McKellan would've made an amazing Dumbledore. Liv Tyler is absolutely gorgeous in this movie!

Before my sister figured out she was gay, she had thing for Hugo. I get it, but prefer Viggo *sighs*

Never thought about Ian as DD, but that does sound good.

Liv would be gorgeous in a potato sack, she's that beautiful. I think it's because she is not conventionally attractive.

Hugo did make a semi-pretty woman in The Adventures of Priscilla Queen of the Desert. Viggo does have a certain something (or a lot of gorgeous!)

Liv is pretty period. But she looks kind of ethereal in these movies.

I'm sorry to hear about your ankle. I hope it's getting better again soon, and I look forward to reading about your days in London.

My ankle is ok as long as I wear my walking boot. I'm in the process of uploading upwards of four hundred photos from my trip. (I went a little camera crazy.) Once they're uploaded then I'll post with links to the photos.

What a lovely little Christmas song. He may have been a bastard as a father, but I love listening to Bing sing. His little drummer boy rendition is my favorite.

Luckily, I'm one of the few in my family who is not affected by seasonal allergies. I'm almost positive that it's related to my flu shot, because my whole body feels like it's been run over. I'm sore all over. A hot bath helps!

Last night was my first night to work since I sprained my ankle. It's not too bad if I keep my boot on.

There's always next year!
