Smile though your heart is aching

How does that make you feel?: morosemorose

The news of Michael Jackson's passing was a double blow for me. I was raised listening to his music (and Weird Al's parody of his song, 'Bad' to 'Fat'). I loved his music. He did have a tumultuous life, but who are we to judge, right?

It was a double blow for me because just yesterday I received a package in the mail containing a Michael Jackson T-shirt, that ispellit helped me pick out. It took me quite a bit of searching and saving to purchase a ticket to his concert. I had planned to see him on my 'night off' in London. I'm going to keep the shirt, no doubt about it, but I am very disappointed that I missed out on this event.

I am heart broken for his young children, who lost their father. I know he did a lot of crazy stuff through the years, but I wish people would have a modicum of respect for the dead and stop talking crap and making tasteless jokes at his expense. He was someone's son, brother, father and friend. Let him rest in peace.

I'm also sad about Farrah Fawcett, but she was before my time. I was less affected by the news of her passing, as it wasn't totally unexpected. Her documentary about her fight with cancer made me cry. They are both in a better place now.

You are right about that. I think Michael will be remembered as a great artist .

Yes, a great artist anyway! However, I think his early death was something to be expected.

Sad for you that there won't be a concert any more. You were so much looking forward to it.

*hugs*

I didn't expect it and I doubt his family did either (or maybe they did, who knows). I told my sister, that as a fan it was totally unexpected. But as a nurse, fifty is not too young for this to happen (and in fact it's not rare).

I'm sure there are lots of other thing that I can find to do in lieu of the concert.
*hugs you back*
